Kelly & Lane tie the knot in Maine!

What a spectacular weekend and wedding!

July 26th 2009:
Our first destination wedding and what a GREAT experience it was! We arrived a day early to join Lane and some friends for a hike at Sandy Beach in Bar Harbor's Acadia National Park. Although it was a foggy day the scenery was stunning and we enjoyed the journey. Later that day we attended a special rehearsal/dinner at Edgewater Cabins and got to meet their amazing families. (see slideshow here)

I dont think I can say it enough, but for us, being able to meet such great families and see the love and happiness among them makes our day. I think this is one of the things we've been really lucky with since we started shooting weddings with all of our couples.

Fast forward to June 27th 2009:
The day began in Bar Harbor at Roberto Hostins Salon for Kelly and The Harborside Hotel for Lane. From there we headed over to Edgewater Cabins for the ceremony and reception. Talk about an amazing location for an outdoor wedding overlooking the water! The ceremony went very smoothly even though I was a little nervous from my dream the night before (of a naked but speedy guest running by and stealing my camera as Kelly was walking down the isle!)... Dont ask :) The evening couldn't have ended any better as we partied the rest of the night away overlooking the Frenchman Bay!

I'd like to thank all involved in making this such a great day! Decorations and logistics were perfectly handled by Sandy Shapiro-Hurt (Owner/Planned) from Bea and Company. Dana Olsen, Kelly's sister and Matron of Honor was the mastermind behind all the paper designs (invitations, programs, menus, etc). The food was splendidly prepared by Rich Malaby (Chef/Owner) at The Crocker House Kristiaan and I actually stayed there and would highly recommend it.

And now for our biggest post ever :)

Portraits with Sara

We met Sara about a month ago and began discussing portraits ideas for her website http://www.luminousmedicine.com. Sara is a certified Master Practitioner in Energy Medicine and Luminous Healing and offers life coaching and specialized interventions founded in the shamanic traditions of the South Americas.

We decided we would meet near the WWI memorial in DC, then move over to the Tidal Basin and finish up in her studio in Tulsi (make sure you check them out!). I have to give her credit for not only waking up BEFORE sunrise, but fending off the mosquitos and looking amazing while doing it! Here are some of our favorites of the day and you can see her choices on her site above. You may notice a certain photographer made it as a model for the studio photos :)

Erin & Dave - Esession

It was a lazy Sunday evening when we met Erin and Dave at their DC condo. Just a few blocks from where Kristiaan and I shot our first wedding at Meridian Hill Park. Because the light was just so perfect, we began our escapades on the steps of the Masonic Temple. After that it was a fun and relaxing walk over to Dupont Circle where we couldnt have gotten any luckier with the sunset. We capped the night with a few beers and great conversation. Keep an eye out for their September 5th wedding at Lansdowne Resort.
